KitchenAid appliances are engineered to signal exactly what's wrong — if you know how to read the codes. This guide covers every common error code across the full KitchenAid lineup. Find your code in the table, read what it means, and use the severity column to decide your next step: DIY fix, monitor, or call a technician.
💡 First step for any code
Before anything else: unplug the appliance or turn off its circuit breaker for one full minute, then restore power. A large percentage of error codes are temporary faults that a power reset clears completely. If the same code reappears after a reset, the underlying component needs attention.
KitchenAid Dishwasher Error Codes
KitchenAid dishwashers use an F#E# format (Function + Error). Digital display models show the code directly. Older models without a display flash the Clean light — count the flashes before and after the pause to identify the code.

⚠️ F8E4 — Do not run another cycle
F8E4 means water has been detected at the base of the unit. Running the dishwasher again can drive water under your flooring and into cabinetry. Turn off the water supply, unplug the machine, and call for service before using it again.
We service all KitchenAid appliances in Palm Harbor, Clearwater, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Safety Harbor, Oldsmar, New Port Richey, Seminole, Largo, St. Petersburg, and all of Pinellas County. Same-day appointments are available most days — call before noon for the best availability.
